DT Technician (Resistant Materials Specialist)

Are you an experienced DT Technician with a strong background in Resistant Materials and a passion for supporting practical learning?

We are working in partnership with a well-established secondary school in Small Heath seeking a dedicated DT Technician to support their Design & Technology department.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a supportive school where practical, hands-on learning is a key part of the curriculum.

The Role:

You will play a key role in supporting the delivery of engaging and safe DT lessons, particularly within Resistant Materials, ensuring all practical work is prepared to a high standard.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare, set up and clear away equipment for Resistant Materials lessons (woodwork focus)
• Maintain, service and safely store workshop tools and machinery (e.g. saws, drills, sanders)
• Support teachers and students during practical sessions where required
• Monitor and manage stock, including ordering materials such as timber and fixings
• Ensure strict adherence to health & safety regulations in the workshop
• Maintain a clean, organised and fully functional workshop environment

What We’re Looking For:

• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (essential)
• Previous experience as a DT Technician or within a workshop environment
• Strong understanding of Resistant Materials and woodwork machinery
• Relevant health & safety qualification (e.g. SMHS certificate)
• Relevant DT or technical qualifications (preferred)
• Highly organised, proactive and able to work independently
