TeacherActive is proud to be working with a specialist Pupil Referral Unit / PRU in Somerset, supporting primary and secondary aged pupils who have been permanently excluded from mainstream education. The provision offers a safe and supportive environment where pupils are encouraged to rebuild their confidence, develop resilience and achieve positive educational outcomes.

The school is looking to appoint a full-time Learning Support Assistant on a temporary basis from September, working primarily with Key Stage 4 / KS4 pupils. The successful Learning Support Assistant will provide classroom and 1:1 support for pupils with SEMH and medical needs, working alongside teachers and the wider support team to promote positive behaviour, improve engagement and help pupils overcome barriers to learning.

The successful Learning Support Assistant will have:

• Previous experience working with children or young people

• Experience supporting pupils with SEMH, behavioural needs or additional learning needs is desirable

• Strong behaviour management and communication skills

• A patient, resilient and positive approach

• The ability to build positive relationships with pupils and colleagues

• A genuine passion for supporting young people to reach their full potential
