TeacherActive is proud to be working with a specialist educational setting in Weston-super-Mare that supports vulnerable young people and students who are unable to attend mainstream education. The school provides a safe, nurturing and holistic learning environment where students are encouraged to develop confidence, resilience and independence while progressing personally and academically.

The school is looking to appoint a full-time Learning Support Assistant on a temporary basis from September. The successful Learning Support Assistant will work alongside teachers and the wider support team to support students with SEND, Social, Emotional and Mental Health / SEMH needs and additional learning needs, encouraging positive engagement with learning, promoting emotional wellbeing and supporting meaningful progress.

The successful Learning Support Assistant will have:

• Experience supporting children or young people with SEND, SEMH or additional learning needs

• Experience within a specialist education, SEND or alternative provision setting is desirable

• A caring, patient and compassionate approach to supporting learners

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

• The ability to build positive relationships and remain calm in challenging situations

• A proactive, resilient and adaptable approach to working as part of a supportive team
