The successful candidate will join a committed staff team focused on delivering the Curriculum for Wales, with an emphasis on creativity, literacy, numeracy, and pupil well-being.
As a Key Stage 2 Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting pupils aged 7–11 years (Years 3–6) on a full-time basis. You will work alongside the class teacher to enhance learning, provide targeted support, and help pupils overcome barriers to education—particularly those with Additional Learning Needs (ALN).
Classroom Support:
- Assist the teacher in delivering engaging and differentiated lessons
- Prepare and organise classroom materials and learning resources
- Support pupils during whole-class teaching, group work, and independent tasks
- Help maintain a safe, stimulating, and inclusive classroom environment
Pupil Support:
- Provide 1:1 support for pupils with additional needs (e.g. literacy difficulties, behavioural challenges)
- Support small intervention groups in areas such as reading, writing, and numeracy
- Encourage pupil independence, confidence, and engagement
- Help manage behaviour in line with the school’s behaviour policy
Person Specification:
Essential:
- Experience working with children in an educational or care setting (minimum of 6 months)
- Good understanding of the Key Stage 2 curriculum
- Strong literacy and numeracy skills
- Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff
- Patient, empathetic, and flexible approach
Desirable:
- Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification
- Knowledge of the Curriculum for Wales
